Do you pretend to be someone you are not? One of my heroes in the men’s ministry space is John Eldredge, author of the book Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul. In his best-selling book, Eldredge dives deep into the issues that impact how men kive for God. In this video from his current small group teaching series, Eldredge gets to the core question of the masculine soul: “Do I have what it takes?” Other variations of the same questions are “Can I come through?” and “Can I handle whatever life throws at me?” These all mean the same thing: I am afraid of not living up to what people expect of me. Hey Dads: Emulate the Traits of God, The Father

I’m a huge fan of Kent Evans, the founder of Manhood Journey, who recently wrote this great post about fatherhood that I want to share with you. I met Kent on my last business trip pre-COVID time and really admire his enthusiasm for helping men –and especially fathers, become better.  Kent’s recent post makes 4 points that also apply to us dads: God the Father is slow to anger God fulfills His promise God answers the call God leads His people Simply put, good fathers follow God, the Father and apply these traits to their parenting. The Friend Who Never Left

Recently, I received two magazines unexpectedly in the mail at my home. The first was Wine Enthusiast. Strange, I thought, since I’m not a fine wine drinker. The other was Esquire. OK, I am a man, so that one makes sense. I had not subscribed to either but do love the feel of ink on paper as a former “print guy” whose career was in printing and publishing. I quickly realized, I was on a mail list rented by the publisher of these magazines. Days later, I also received an email from the publisher with some archived articles to entice me to subscribe. Due to a huge decline of advertising revenue the last several years, many publishers are trying regain paid subscriptions just to survive.  But I digress.
